POSTED 3/28/2008 Lecturers in anesthesia have 70-80% clinical commitment, and their primary responsibilities are clinical teaching and clinical service. However, time off clinics is negotiable and may be extended if the candidate has specific interest in pursuing clinical research. Successful candidates will enjoy a wealth of opportunities in providing clinical service in a very active academic teaching hospital, and in pursuing clinical research in a collaborative environment with a high case load. Candidates must have a veterinary degree, internship, and residency training in Veterinary Anesthesia. The appointment may be made at the level of Veterinary Specialist, Senior Veterinary Registrar or Resident in Anaesthesia. POSTED 12/11/2007 The Faculty of Veterinary Science is a world-class facility for student learning and research excellence and animal welfare. The University Veterinary Teaching Hospital - Camden (UVTH) is a Large and Small Animal Veterinary Teaching Hospital that provides 24 hour veterinary services to the wider community. The hospital is staffed by a variety of specialist and provides a "best practice" approach to teaching and service. In this role you will also be expected to undertake a program of self instruction and continuing education by attending rounds with specialists, clinicians and student interns and utilising University library resources, contribute to the undergraduate desexing clinic and clinical research unit. Contribution to the afterhours roster will be required. Specialist (HEO 9) or Senior Registrar (HEO 8) To succeed at Specialist level, you will have suitable specialist qualifications (ACVA, ECVA or FACVSc), while Senior Veterinary Registrars will have completed training and requirements to be eligible to sit for specialist examinations. Both positions require extensive experience in large and small animal anaesthesia, and excellent leadership skills demonstrated by experience in mentoring junior clinical staff and an ability to provide clinical instruction to undergraduate students. Some experience in clinical research or an interest in clinical research would be viewed favourably. Resident (HEO 6) To be appointed at Resident level, you will need to have a veterinary degree that is registrable in NSW, interest in pursuing training in anaesthesia in all animal species to ultimately undertake a training program for specialist registration. A MACVSc in Veterinary Anaesthesia and some experience in anaesthesia is highly desirable. Prior practice experience in a mixed practice and a demonstrable ability to clinically instruct students would be viewed favourably. This is an outstanding opportunity to become an integral member of a state-of-the-art specialist hospital. The anaesthesia equipment has been recently upgraded with general upgrade of all the hospital equipment. You will join an anaesthesia group presently consisting of an experienced veterinary anaesthesia specialist, a specialist eligible anaesthesiologist with considerable experience and an experienced veterinary anaesthesia nurse. The position is full-time fixed term for three to five years, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. Cornell Clinical Fellows The College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University offers a two-year research fellowship for specialty-trained veterinarians. The purpose of the fellowship is to provide a significant research experience for clinical specialists committed to an academic career. This fellowship will provide an intensive research experience under the mentorship of a strong scientist who supports investigations of laboratory or clinical hypotheses relevant to clinical disease. Approximately 80% of the appointment will be devoted to research, with the remaining time available for clinical practice in the applicant's field of specialty. Positions are available for specialists in any discipline. The anticipated starting date is August 1, 2008. Salary will be $65,000/yr and will include health insurance and other Cornell University benefits. $15,000/yr will be provided in research supply funds.

POSTED 11/21/2007 The small animal hospital is well equipped and the caseload is wide and varied from routine orthopaedics to cardiothoracic procedures and complex medical cases. The equine hospital has a new purpose built surgical facility and again offers a wide variety of cases. The position would involve working alongside a board eligible anaesthesiologist, 2 anaesthetic interns and technical support staff. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently in both the equine and small animal hospitals and also be involved in small group teaching in a clinical setting.
