 POSTED 2/27/2007

At Veterinary Specialty Center, we strive to provide the best care and service to our small animal patients and their human companions. We feel that is time, once again, to raise the bar by adding an anesthesia service to our group. We are searching for one or possibly two anesthesiologists to help improve the high quality and compassionate care we already provide.

We envision the anesthesia service working to help improve our anesthetic techniques and analgesia protocols, train our technicians and doctors, provide support to the referral community, and aid in the care of ICU and all hospitalized patients. We encourage frequent communication with pet owners and referral veterinarians. Our anesthesiologist(s) will have the opportunity to build their service with the complete support of all our practices.

Veterinary Specialty Center is a multidisciplinary referral center in a great suburban community within 20 miles of downtown Chicago. Our group consists of board certified and residency trained veterinarians in surgery (5), internal medicine (1), oncology (2), neurology (1), cardiology (1), critical care (1), radiology (2), dermatology (2), behavior (1), and ophthalmology (1). In addition, we have 5 highly trained emergency room doctors to provide 24 hour care to our patients. Our full support staff is professional and knowledgeable. We believe that with your help, we can create a high-powered anesthesia service that will act to complement our existing services and raise the standard of patient care.

Anesthesiologist, Chief of Staff

The board certified (or board eligible) Anesthesiologist will be the Chief of Staff and sole veterinarian who, with a team consisting of: a licensed veterinary technologist; an MRI technologist and office manager will oversee this dedicated veterinary only referral MRI center. Equipped with a state of the art MRI machine and multiparameter MRI friendly monitoring equipment with telemetry this center, located in Northern California, is the gold standard for providing MRI to this large veterinary community.

Our team of board certified radiologists, working in conjunction with the MRI technologist and utilizing our 1.5 T magnet, has tailored the MR sequences in order to provide extremely high resolution images and keep anesthesia time to a minimum. These images and a radiology report are then delivered to the requesting doctor within 24 hours.

The working conditions are great; no nights; no weekends, and no on-call. The anesthesiologist will run the practice as her/his own, from case management to establishing the overall culture of the work place. The successful applicant will need to obtain a California Veterinary License.
